To see and visit in Munich


Taking advantage from yesterday, Saturday is being held in Munich the feast of the most famous World Beer Oktoberfest Munich we are going to leave a few places to visit between beer and beer to take to do some sightseeing while you can those of you lucky enough to be enjoying this massive party. 


The Munich Oktoberfest, the most popular and traditional beer festival in the world, began yesterday with the ritual cry O'Zapft (open) with the mayor, Christian Ude, conceded a mallet tap the first keg to the empezase flow and may be brewing and drinking until 7 October in the grounds of the Wiesn, as known to the Theresienwiese meadow or Santa Teresa, where the party takes place.

Marienplatz 


This is one of the central squares in the heart of Munich, from here you can explore many wonderful old buildings and the most interesting churches and monuments. Marienplatz houses the Column of Mary or Mariensaeule, work crowned with a golden statue of the Virgin Mary. In addition there are the Old City and the New Town Hall. 

The New Town Hall 



The New Town Hall is an impressive building in where the Glockenspiel, a beautiful carillon that is over 100 years old. Go to 11 or 12 a day to hear the bells of the Glockenspiel and appreciate 32 life-size figures that will revive the historical events of Bavaria. Note also that the golden bird chirps 3 times to mark the end of each show. 

Cathedral of Our Lady in Munich (Frauenkirche) 


The Cathedral of Our Lady Frauenkirche or Munich is an important historical site in the city, besides being the largest church in Munich, with a capacity for 20,000 people; construction is based on brick and has its own architectural style of late Gothic of the fifteenth century. Its famous dome on top of each tower was inspired by the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. Along with the City, the twin towers are part of the horizon and make the Cathedral of Munich in a great focal point. You can also climb the stairs of the towers, where an interesting view of the cityscape of Munich and the Bavarian Alps is obtained. 


Nymphenburg Palace 


The former residence of the Wittelsbach house has become a highlight throughout the year, the program visit the city. Noteworthy is the large park of the palace, full of streams, small lakes and hidden palaces. The vast baroque building is located west of Munich and was the summer residence of the Bavarian kings 

Dachau Concentration Camp 


The concentration camp at Dachau, 10 miles northwest of Munich, was one of the first concentration camps of Nazi Germany and serve as a model for all the fields that have in the Third Reich. Dachau visitors can follow the "path of the prisoner" who is walking down the same route that the prisoners were to reach the camp. You can see original papers as toilets, barracks and crematoria courts, plus several more monuments. 

The English Garden 


Just a few blocks northeast of the Munich Residence is the English Garden, the largest park in Munich. Even bigger than Central Park in New York, this green oasis is a wonderful place to explore how to rent a pedal boat, stroll through the wooded trails, visit some of the most popular beer gardens, and view the German answer site when surfing at Eisbach currents. 

Hofbräuhaus brewery 


Any trip to Munich must include at least one visit to the most famous beer hall in the world, the Hofbräuhaus, which was built in 1589 and features some old wooden tables on which you can find names, dates and reviews of more than 100 years. It is the most popular attraction in Munich and beer restaurant best known and mentioned in songs ("In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus ..."). The Viktualienmarkt, whose beginnings date back to the early nineteenth century, offers a bit of everything from flowers, honey and spices, meat, cheese, eggs and pastries. Enjoy among garlands of sausages, mountains of fresh vegetables, fruit pyramids, and let your senses be seduced. 

Münchner Residenz 



On the edge of Old Residence Munich is the former royal palace of the kings of Bavaria, which was built in 1385 and consists of ten courtyards and beautiful historic gardens. Today Residencia has one of the best European museums of interior decoration, with 130 rooms where you can see antique furniture, art, porcelain and tapestries spanning the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neo-Classical.
